The Start of Something Good

For about a year now I've been toying around with the idea of starting a blog. I've always wanted to have one but at the same time I never really thought I had anything interesting to say...and that might be true.   But I realized, even if I don't have any ground-breaking, paradigm-shifting thoughts to share with the world, I do in fact, have a few other things to share.  Like music.  Music is in my heart and in my soul...and in my head all day long for that matter. From jump street I never really had a choice.  See, I was born into a family of incredible musicians and basically grew up in a music school.  Writing and performing became the way I connect with the world, with other people and with myself.  In that same way, I want this blog to serve as yet another outlet to share my passion with anyone who is willing to listen.  There is not a day that goes by that I am not affected in some way by a song I hear, by a performance I see, by something I read or by a piece of art hanging on a wall.  The world is full of inspiration.  I would like to share some of my inspiration with you.   There is no better way I can think to start a blog than by sharing this song called "Start of Something Good" 

I was asked to write a song for the Big Brothers Big Sisters agency's new marketing campaign called 'Start Something'.  If you're not familiar with BBBS, they are national company that connects underprivileged youth (littles) with older mentors (bigs) and they have incredible success!  I've listened to story after heart-touching story about less fortunate kids, born into poverty, who are now achieving seemingly miraculous things and they give all the credit to their mentors and BBBS.  Upon reflecting on their stories,  I wanted to approach this song from both the perspective of the child as well as the adult because I believe both are equally affected by each other.  I hope you enjoy the Start of Something Good Cheers!  http://www.ourstage.com/tracks/BCEDVNEVRVPP-start-of-something-good
